Women Physician Leadership Forum (WLF)
![]() AMWA's Diversity and Inclusion Section supports the Women’s Physician Leadership Forum (WLF).
The goal of the WLF is to support strategic retention and advancement of women physicians through mentoring and professional development programs. This Forum is held at the Semi-Annual AMWA Board meeting, the AMWA Annual meeting and throughout the year at the various AMWA Chapters around the country. The Chicago AMWA Consortium, hosts WLF events and roundtable sessions to discuss specific issues that affect women in the healthcare/medical workplace , including leveraging a professional presence, managing work and life, how to achieve financial wellness and utilize the power of personality for personal and professional success. Past Events that Chicago AMWA Consortium members participated in: Women’s Leadership & Mentoring Alliance (WLMA) Founded in 2005, the Women’s Leadership & Mentoring Alliance (WLMA) is an invitational mentoring alliance of professional women learning, exchanging and advancing at every stage of their lives and careers. We provide leadership development and mentoring in an open, supportive environment. Our members give and receive knowledge, guidance, reinforcement, resources and opportunities for growth. The CAC supports the following important Leadership development programs: American Medical Women's Association (AMWA) AMWA functions at the local, national, and international level to advance women in medicine and improve women's health by providing and developing leadership, advocacy, education, expertise, mentoring and strategic alliance. Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) Many academic centers sponsor one faculty member for each of the following seminars noted below: AAMC Professional Development Seminar for Junior Women Faculty - 3-day program for women faculty early in their first faculty appointment. AAMC Professional Development Seminar for Senior Women in Medicine , 3-day program for women associate of full professors with clear potential for advancement to a major administrative position such as division or department chair. Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine (ELAM) Allegheny University of the Health Sciences/MCP Hahnemann University School of Medicine's Hedwig van Ameringen Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine (ELAM) Program for Women aspires to increase the number of women serving in the top leadership ranks.
